My name is Kim Hanscom, for the past 3 years I have taught Kindergarten here at Discover Learning Center. I am now excited to now have the opportunity to teach Pre-K4! We have a terrific program and I can’t wait to get started!

I was a stay at home mom for 11 years to my two children, Briana, 16, and Brayden, 13. During this time I received my Effective Teacher Training Certificate from College of the Albemarle. I also homeschooled my daughter for two years and taught at a local co-op.

My favorite bible verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” found in Philippians 4:13.

The curriculum that we use is based upon the best source available, the Bible. We study the world around us from God’s viewpoint. We begin our lessons with a Bible concept that flows into activities and subjects including social studies, language arts, math, phonics, science, and scripture memorization.

We also have arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and, of course, outdoor time. Preschool children learn best by doing, so we have time every day to work on tasks together. We have classroom jobs to help teach children responsibility. Our classroom has a routine, but teaching time is flexible.
