Hello! My name is Wanda Ramos and I am the Nursery Director here at Discover Learning Center. I am a native of Puerto Rico and I have been married for 21 years. My husband and I have 3 beautiful daughters; Zenaida, Sara, and Cailey.

I was a stay at home mom until my youngest started middle school. I also cared for other children in my house until I began to working here in 2016. When I’m not in the nursery, I love reading and spending time with my family. My favorite bible verse is Psalm 127:3 “Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from Him.”

The nursery is a very nurturing environment, where we encourage our infants and toddlers to play with stimulating toys and interact with one another. Our brightly painted walls and colorful wall stickers and posters, create a warm atmosphere for our children during these important first two years.

Our teachers ensure that each child receives plenty of attention and lots of love.

Working at Discover Learning Center has been such a blessing and I love being a part of such an amazing team of women.

Hi! I’m Christina Johnson and I work in the nursery. I graduated from Chowan University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have also volunteered at many different public schools with their reading classes and indoor field days. I also volunteered at the public library with their summer reading program. I love teaching the kids and love seeing them so eager to start learning.

My favorite bible verse is; Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Hi! My name is Alyssa Dickerson and I am a student at Marshall University. I recently moved to the area to be with my husband, who is stationed at Naval Station Norfolk.

In July of 2019, I will officially have my bachelors degree with a specialization in communication disorders and psychology. Throughout my 4 years in WV, I was an after school teacher for Pre K- 5th grade. I also worked in a daycare last summer and have many nieces and nephews. I have no children of my own yet, but do have a fur baby.

I am working in the transition room, which is for the children who are (almost) 2, but are not quite ready to be in the older classroom yet. I have always had a passion for children and helping them learn and develop appropriately.

My favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” NIV
